Two months

Monday was Noah's 2 month birthday. We went for his well check-up on Wednesday, and here are his official stats:

weight: 11 lbs., 15.5 oz. (51st%)
length: 24 1/2 inches (90th%)
head: 15 inches (40%)
(this is how big Luke's head was when he was born!!)

He changes every day. He smiles all the time, especially at me (which is just as it should be), and he's making more and more cooing noises. I'd forgotten how adorable they are at this stage! I love holding and snuggling him, and he loves it, too. He would sleep lying on me all day if I'd let him. He's so alert in between naps and continues to be a good eater. This goes without saying, but I am absolutely in love with him!

Sick day

Luke has had a cold for more than two weeks, and this weekend he got a fever that never went away. Sunday night he told me his mouth hurt, and at first I didn't think anything of it. It finally dawned on my that he must have meant his throat but didn't know what to call it, and when I checked his throat, it was fiery red and swollen. We went to the doctor yesterday, and he has strep throat. Even though he felt pretty puny Sunday and Monday, the thing that made him most upset was not being able to hold or kiss Noah. He's just waiting till tomorrow when he gets the green light to smooch his baby brother. He's feeling and acting much better today, but he's told me he's still sick and needs to watch TV all day. I think he's on the mend - I just hope the rest of stay well.

Heart day

Happy Valentine's day! We started the morning with pink heart-shaped pancakes and a few little treats. Mimi sent Luke a monkey that makes kissing noises and some paintbrushes with the paint already in them. We gave him a trash truck, something he's been wanting for quite some time. He couldn't wait to play with it! Noah got some books, a rattle, and a cute outfit from Mimi.

"I love these pink heart-shaped pancakes, but I refuse to smile."

Unfortunately, my big stud muffin isn't here today, but I do get to spend the whole day with my little stud muffin!

8 weeks

Noah turned eight weeks old yesterday - so hard for me to believe! I am very glad, however, that it is this week and not eight weeks ago. We've definitely made some progress since that first tiring week! Here are a few more fun facts about this sweet little baby:

-He still has hair on his ears and his back. The ear hair is getting fainter, but it's still there.

-Noah smiles all the time. He smiles with his whole face, and it melts my heart every time he does it.

-While he still grunts a good bit, he's starting to make more cooing noises and has even attempted a laugh here and there.

-He typically gets up only twice during the night which is much better than the three or four times he was getting up a few weeks ago. Gary & I still make the trek in there to plug him up with the pacie once or twice a night, but he usually goes right back to sleep. I am by no means well-rested, but it's getting better.

-Noah is spoiled! He loves to be held. I'm sure this is mostly my doing since I still hold him a good bit during the day, but since he's my last baby, I'm trying to soak up as much cuddle time as I can (especially since I know he'll eventually turn into a three-year-old who refuses to cuddle and kisses me only when he sees fit.)

-He's still a peanut. 0-3 month clothing still fits him best although there are a few 3-6 month outfits that are OK if I roll up the sleeves & legs. Where did this itty-bitty baby come from?
-He now loves being in the bath, especially when Luke helps; he stares at Luke the entire time.

That's about it. He's still the cutest baby since you-know-who was born.

Toesies

There's nothing cuter than baby feet! My sister and I call baby toes "corn niblets" because from the bottom that's exactly what they look like.

Playing

Luke loves to play in his bedroom, but he rarely wants to be in there by himself which means I spend time in there most every day with him. Noah now hangs out with us, too. These are just a few pictures from yesterday while we were playing.
Those slats under the top bunk sure are interesting!
Hangin' out

If you look closely, you can see that Mr. Type-A has most of the animals organized by kind (I actually organized them, but it was his idea and he directed me - imagine that!)

Nana

My Nana left this afternoon after spending a week with us. She came to meet her 8th great-grandchild! We had a wonderful visit with her, and she enjoyed spending time with Luke & Noah. As you can see by the picture, Noah enjoyed his time with Nana, too. We love you, Nana, and we miss you already!

Snow day

We've had a crazy winter here in Texas! Yesterday was about the third time it's snowed this winter, but it was the first time we really had any accumulation. Luke & I played outside for a while, and he had a great time. You can see our handiwork below.

Six weeks

Noah was 6 weeks old this past Monday. He's getting bigger, and his face has really started to fill out. Here are a few more fun facts about the newest Mr. Chumley:
-He still has that hair on the backs of his ears. He also has hair on his back just above his cute little tushy. He apparently hasn't evolved very far past the chimpanzee stage.

-He barely has any toenails. The little one is just a line, and the others are teeny-tiny.

(I'm not sure that anyone is actually interested in these two tidbits, but I think they're funny.)

-He is a noisy baby. He grunts all the time, even while he's sleeping.

-He can wear a few outfits that are size 3 months, but 0-3 month clothes still fit him best. Luke was in 3-6 months at 2 weeks, if that gives you any indication as to how much smaller Noah is than Luke.

-He's really starting to smile a good bit, and every now and then he makes some cute baby noises that basically sound like "ah-gah". Very sweet - it just melts my heart.

-Most days he's awake for about an hour at a time, and while he'd rather be held, he does spend some time in the bouncy seat (now that my dear husband has put it together correctly) and lying on his mat that has two bars with animals hanging from them.

-He is still the cutest, sweetest baby I know!

This isn't the best picture of Noah, but it's the first one I've gotten where he's cracking a bit of a smile.
